Our Favourite Activities

Summer Moot:

Held over Australia Day weekend in January, this Moot generally is a time to relax, preferably near the beach.  The Volleyball competition pales into insignificance when compared to the Miss Moot contest. BYO lingerie, sun-screen, & other relevant protection…

Scout Ranger Regatta:

Held on the March long weekend each year.  This is the largest annual Scouting event of the year involving Scouts, Ventures, Rovers, Guides & Ranger Guides.  It rotates yearly between Snug and St Helens & involves a range of activities both on & off the water.  This would be the most popular event for Rovers with all but a few attending - Is it the AGM or the Pub Night that's the attraction? I'm not sure....

Easter Moot:

Held over the 4 day Easter Break, this Moot is always popular & involves heaps of activities & fun.  Often held closer to civilisation such as Scout Camps (even Rovers smell after 4 days), it has also been an avenue to assist the other Section’s activities such as the Coroboree.

Rover Reunion:

Held on the 3rd weekend in May, the Rover Reunion Dinner is an opportunity to have a bite with the myriad of ‘Old Bastards’ or ex Rovers throughout the State.  It rotates each year around the 3 regions & often involves BBQ’s or similar during the day &/or an evening meal somewhere flash.

Mudbash:

Held ever the Queen's Birthday long weekend in June, this event is still the largest annual Scouting event in the country. Held in the high country of Victoria 33 kms north of Yea, it has been running since 1972 in a variety of locations before settling at Mafeking. 2003 & 2004 buggies weren't allowed due to insurance issues however now the event is sanctioned by CAMS & continues to be heaps of fun.

Winter Moot:

Held on the 1st weekend in August, this Moot always has a theme involved therefore once more Rover’s dress-codes are put to the question…  As it’s a colder time of the year, this Moot is often inland and 4-Wheel Driving is a popular activity.

Brent Gaffney Memorial Raft Race:

Held on the 4th weekend in October, it’s a chance for Crews to compete on one of Tassie’s wild rivers for this prestigious trophy.  Tassie Rovers will soon becoming more proficient in the art of rafting with the imminent acquisition of top quality rafting gear & training to boot.

Rover Boots:

These are special events held any time any where, normally when a Rover turns 26 years old & his journey as a 'Scouting Youth Member' comes to an end... Literally & metaphorically.  Check out our Photos Page for Links off to FaceBook Galleries & the like of some of our more memorable Boots...

Crew Events:

Along with state-wide events Crews also hold different events throughout the year. The Eastern Shore Cocktail night is not a night to miss, with a crazy theme and plenty of different cocktails and mocktails to drink. Also the Northern Area Rover Crew holds an annual winter Hut Weekend at the Carr-Villa Hut.  Many Crews organise a Christmas Break-up Party, Wellington Rovers are especially good at those.
